Sun
Daylight originates in the Sun’s interior, where nuclear fusion combines four hydrogen nuclei to form one helium nucleus and two protons. The released energy moves through the Sun taking tens of thousands of years before eventually leaving the outer surface of the Sun as solar radiation. The Sun’s rays make a journey of more than 150 million kilometres before reaching the Earth’s surface. Detection of the Sun’s energy is essential for almost all life on Earth.
